Paper Labels-Bodega x Bailey Works x Independent Fabrication
Posted by Jesse.N on February 5th, 2010

Paper Labels is a concept coming to you from three giant names in their respective industries. Bodega is a fashion boutique in Boston, Mass. Baily Works makes high quality messenger bags ideal for the everyday rider, or a courier (Portsmouth, NH). Lastly, Independent Fabrication (Somerville, MA) makes highly reputable handmade custom bicycles. These companies bring you Paper Lables, a concept that is realized and made available in three concept bikes, four messenger bags, and three t-shirts.

There is a lot of cultural inspiration for this project, secondary to bike culture. The colors used in the designs for every product are rooted in graffiti. In the 80′s there were certain colors (Krylon Aqua Turquoise #2008, Krylon O.D. Khaki #2301, and Krylon Metallic Blue #1903) that were popular to paint with, but subsequently, were discontinued. Because these colors were no longer available they became sought after relics for graffiti artists and enthusiasts. It’s the paper labels from these colors, which Bodega has an extensive archive of, that spawned Paper Labels.

This project is scheduled to be unleashed on the world next Friday, Feb. 12th at FourthWall Gallery (132 Brookline Ave. Boston MA). Unfortunately OUTOFPRINTMAG.COM won’t be able to make it out to this one, but if you do, please get in touch and send photos. We would love to see em! At the unveiling you can also catch a sneak peak of what Independent Fabrication has in the works for NAHBS in Richmond, VA at the end of this month.

Each bike is being limited to 15 and will include a matching bag, t-shirt, and can of spray paint that has been mixed and labeled specifically for it’s bike. These packages can be purchased at Bodega or through Independent Fabrication
