Phoenix Bikes is a non-profit community bike shop located in Arlington, VA (for those that don’t know, it’s northern Virginia, connected to DC), that prides itself on giving young people hands on experience working in a bike shop. They are looking to foster the entrepreneurial spirit and motivation within local youths through donations that are given to the shop which are then worked on, by the kids under supervision, and resold. They also promote the cycling way of life by taking the kids on bike rides around the city every Saturday.
On April 8th at 7 pm Phoenix Bikes is having its 3rd Annual Bike Show at the NRECA Building, 4301 Wilson Blvd. The bike show this year is focusing on inspirational rides that were done by local cyclists in the DC metro area. What are these rides inspiring you ask? Well the top seven rides are chosen to be used as inspiration for artists to create a piece that will also be displayed at The Bike Show. If you live in the area, are passing through, or even if you don’t live in the area, come down and check it out. Food, drinks, art, bikes, can’t ask for much more. Out Of Print will be there capturing all the action for those of you who can’t make it. Keep an eye out for more posts coming soon about the extraordinary rides in more detail, as well as previews of some of the pieces that will be featured in the show.
