Mister Freedom
Posted by Jesse.N on April 26th, 2010

When I was sent a link to Mister Freedom I was immediately not dazzled by their web site. But as I started to look around I realized that what they lacked in “cyber-flare”, they more than made up for in style and moxie. Mister Freedom is a combination studio, and showroom. It’s owner Christophe Loiron is a collector and lover of all things old. As his collection grew, filled with not only fashionable items, but all kinds of items from the past he realized that he needed somewhere to house them. But that wasn’t the only thing he realized. He also decided that he wanted to give other people a chance to enjoy the relics of the past that he had acquired in his searches and travels, so Mister Freedom was born. As it became harder to find pieces that he liked and wanted to sell in the shop, a collaboration with Sugar Cane, a Japanese manufacturer was launched and Mister Freedom brand clothing was born. Chrome: Turds For Gold Shoe Exchange Update
Posted by Ronnie Bullets on April 24th, 2010

Just got my Chrome shoes from the “Chrome: Turds For Gold Shoe Exchange.” They sent me the Midway in a brown colorway. I can already say that they are super comfortable and couldn’t be more psyched. Look for a full review to be posted in a couple weeks.

Today: The Birth Of Big Air
Posted by Ronnie Bullets on April 24th, 2010

In 1985, at the tender age of 13, Mat Hoffman entered into the BMX circuit as an amateur. By 16, he had soared to the top of the sport. Throughout his prodigious career, Hoffman has ignored conventional limitations, instead focusing his efforts on the purity of the sport and the pursuit of “what’s next.” Academy Award® nominee Spike Jonze and extreme sport fanatic Johnny Knoxville, along with director Jeff Tremaine, showcase the inner workings and exploits of the man who gave birth to “Big Air.”
Saturday, April 24
World Financial Center Plaza
Tribeca Drive-in opens at 6:00 pm.
Activities and programming begin at 6:30 pm.
Film screenings start at dusk (approx. 8:15 pm).

Broken Skateboards Art Show
Posted by Jesse.N on April 23rd, 2010

So bummed I can’t make it out for this! I don’t move to Philadelphia until Thurs. and the rest of the magazine is busy tonight so we will not be able to cover this as much as we want to. However, you should be there! It’s Friday night, and you have nothing to do until you hit the bar at 10 or 11 anyway. Looks like lots of good things are going to be here and you have a chance to win a Deck Stool. Anyone who does go and take photos, feel free to send them our way. We would love to post them up. It is all weekend long, so make the time. We are going to see if we can squeeze it into our weekend, but it’s not looking good, unfortunately.

Band of Horses X Lakai Guy Hi
Posted by Jesse.N on April 23rd, 2010

Most of the time the usual suspect for a shoe/band collaboration is Vans, but not this time. Lakai and Band of Horses are mixing up the game with this release. With Band of Horses’ new record on the cusp of a triumphant release, at least thats my prediction, they have gotten together with Lakai to put out a pair of super detailed Guy Hi’s. The shoes and shoe box feature the artwork from “Infinite Arms”, which is slated for a May 18th release. Not surprising that is when both the cd and the shoes will be available. You also have a chance to win a pair if you want to check out Band of Horse web site. You can also check out a few new tracks off the new record. READ MORE AFTER THE JUMP »»
