Amanda F-K-G Palmer’s “THIS IS THE FUTURE OF MUSIC”
Posted by Jena.Serbu on April 30th, 2012

Rarely do I watch an entire Kickstarter pitch, but I crush on Amanda Palmer hard and this is a great gimmick for a campaign video. And well, she’s right, this is the future of music and art and filmmaking and invention and chemistry, construction, innovation and baking. Although the word future is not what it used to be. Future now means….. next 6 to 8 months?  So we agree with her proclamation until September? Maybe November?

DataGarden-PMA DATA GARDEN: QUARTET @ Philadelphia Museum of Art
Posted by Ronnie Bullets on April 12th, 2012

DATA GARDEN: QUARTET is the first bio-reactive and plant-controlled work of art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, hosted by Megawords from April 13-15th.
from DG:
“Situated in the Megawords exhibition space, participants will be encouraged to accompany four large tropical plants that are fitted with specialized electronic sensors. By converting the physiology of the specimens into data, the plants will perform quadraphonic audio compositions in real time. The very presence of museum goers will affect this performance, resulting in a unique composition from moment to moment.”

In conjunction w/ the Zoe Strauss: 10 Years Exhibition at Philadelphia Museum of Art

“Visions of Death” Opening for Death/Traitors Alex Heir
Posted by Ronnie Bullets on April 6th, 2012

We here at oopm are def a fan of both Mishka & Death/Traitors so if you are in NY tonight i suggest you head on over and check out “Visions of Death” Opening for Death/Traitors Alex Heir

After the success of our past two art shows – Mishka art director Mike Jones’ No Time For Love and the Royce Bannon curated group show While You Were Sleeping – we’re very excited to be working with Brooklyn artist and clothing designer Alexander Heir to display his new work, starting April 6th, in 350 Broadway.

Besides being the founder and one-man production machine behind label Death/Traitors (who we’ve been selling in our stores since 2011), and one half of Burn Books (an independent publishing company focused on promoting local artists), Heir is also an accomplished print maker. His work is defined by dark imagery that draws as much influence from religious and occult imagery as it does punk rock.

A constant original, Heir works in mediums as varied as clothing, concert posters, skate decks, jewelry, prints, and more. His new print work is primed to make the walls of 350 Broadway even more mystical than they already are. As mentioned, the show will be opening on Friday April 6th and will be accompanied by a party from 7-10PM. Hope to see you all there!

Friday April 6th, 7-10pm
