Mother’s Day Weekend!
Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing

The Spring Art Star Craft Bazaar is an outdoor retail art/craft show that is organized & juried by Philadelphia’s Art Star Gallery & Boutique. Over 140 local & national artists have been chosen to set up shop & sell their wares at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, right along the Delaware River. The event is being held on Mother’s Day weekend this year, so come to the show to pick up a perfect, one-of-a-kind gift for mom or better yet, bring your mom to the show for a fun day on the waterfront!

Shoppers can expect high quality handmade goods that reflect the unique & often quirky aesthetic of Art Star. Art Star has hand selected a diverse collection of artists that create anything & everything, including housewares, paper goods, dolls, prints, ceramics, clothing, accessories, paintings/drawings, sculpture, and many other one-of-a-kind curiosities. All items have been handmade from a variety of mediums that include fabric, clay, glass, wood, paper & much more.

The event will also include Live Music by local Philly bands, as well as tasty vegetarian/vegan friendly food by local eateries (TBA). We also have some other fun additions in the works, so check back regularly for updates.

“Visions of Death” Opening for Death/Traitors Alex Heir
Posted by Ronnie Bullets on April 6th, 2012

We here at oopm are def a fan of both Mishka & Death/Traitors so if you are in NY tonight i suggest you head on over and check out “Visions of Death” Opening for Death/Traitors Alex Heir

After the success of our past two art shows – Mishka art director Mike Jones’ No Time For Love and the Royce Bannon curated group show While You Were Sleeping – we’re very excited to be working with Brooklyn artist and clothing designer Alexander Heir to display his new work, starting April 6th, in 350 Broadway.

Besides being the founder and one-man production machine behind label Death/Traitors (who we’ve been selling in our stores since 2011), and one half of Burn Books (an independent publishing company focused on promoting local artists), Heir is also an accomplished print maker. His work is defined by dark imagery that draws as much influence from religious and occult imagery as it does punk rock.

A constant original, Heir works in mediums as varied as clothing, concert posters, skate decks, jewelry, prints, and more. His new print work is primed to make the walls of 350 Broadway even more mystical than they already are. As mentioned, the show will be opening on Friday April 6th and will be accompanied by a party from 7-10PM. Hope to see you all there!

Friday April 6th, 7-10pm
?????
350 Broadway
Brooklyn, NY

Pretty and Nice and Everything Vice
Posted by Jena.Serbu on March 20th, 2012

My generation and the one before and the one behind; and the one behind that one, and the one behind that, until the end of days, will be, and should be, known for our relationship with our vices. Whether it’s watching abused toddlers on daytime television or eating Swedish Fish by the case, we all have a hand in something. So, while hoarders hold on to soiled Styrofoam and Rush Limbaugh cracks the child proof cap of his Vicodin, I smell a theme for a print exhibition cooking in my spoon.

Masthead’s lovely Shawn Hileman, a man who engenders the warmth of kittens and the soul searing cement of kind words, knows your ugly bits and is currently celebrating them with his latest procurement of the sexiest printsters in Philly (and beyond). Head over to the studio at 340 Brown St. (Philly) and check out what whiskey means to Sam Heimer and screenprinting means to illusionist Chris “The Beast” Romano – hint – go to North wall, East corner, look down; do not roll dollar, this will only result in disappointment.

Share in your weaknesses with talents such as Julianna Lose, Greg Christman, Dan Gneiding, Erik Hamline, Robb Leef, Ralph Stollenwerk, Alex Eckman-Lawn, Kenny Kim, Lucy Price, Hilary Segdwick, Chris Romano, Dave Orantes, Julianna Lose, James Heimer and many more…

So Go! Go now! And don’t act elitist and vice free, we know you hoard your mom’s panties, never miss Dancing with the Stars and probably still eat toilet paper.
