This Weekend the Tenth Annuak MAYPRIL FOOLS FUN RIDE is back.
We’re proud to announce that our TENTH annual Maypril Fools Fun Ride will be taking place Saturday, May 12th! This is the longest-running scavenger hunt event around, and our focus is always on fun as opposed to speed. We invite riders of all sorts to take part! Basically, you’ll be given a manifest (HUGE list of checkpoints) aound the city to ride to – some of them real, some of them fake – and you route yourself as you see fit. Some checkpoints will be as simple as answering a clue from the manifest. Other checkpoints will require you to pull of some task or stunt, where you will be judged on your performance and scored accordingly. In the past we’ve included stuff like tricycle racing, karaoke contests, drawing contests, etc. There are also several stops at bars and venues around Philadelphia, and at the locations of several of our friend and sponsor companies around town. The winner is the person who has the most points at the end of the race. Regardless of whether you are going for the win, or just hanging out and taking it easy at a few checkpoints, you’re guaranteed to have a great time!
Birmingham, England. Brooks England is pleased to announce the release of the Brooks B17 Select World Traveller 2012 Limited Edition Saddle. This saddle celebrates our deep historical associations with the sporting heroes of the previous London Olympiad, as well as our rich relationship with devotees of Long Distance Touring, during the inaugural WCR Grand Tour (www.worldcycleracing.com), a competitive circumnavigation of the Earth by bicycle.
The leather surface features a restyling of a piece by Frank Patterson, artist and illustrator of the Brooks catalogues of the 1920′s, realized by Richard Phipps. All saddles have been made using Brooks Select organic leather tops, fixed to a chromed copper steel frame and finished with hand hammered copper rivets.
The B17 Select World Traveller is available at chosen Brooks Dealers Of Excellence from May, and production of the Brooks B17 Select World Traveller has been capped at 2012 pieces.
So we had been posting about the Chromes x John Cardiel Bag Collaboration, I stumbled upon this video that was on the NetworkA youtube show Dose. This is a perfect little wrap up video to check out John talking about his colab with Chrome.
When skateboarding legend John Cardiel suffered a gnarly spinal cord injury in 2003, he was given little chance of walking again. But his recovery led him to fixed gear cycling, an obsession that he credits with getting back on his feet and, eventually, on a board. Now, in collaboration with the urban cycling manufacturer Chrome, Cardiel has released a line of bags suited to his style of riding. Tim Brodhagen caught up with Cardiel at Chrome’s New York City store in Soho to get a look at the gear.

In the premiere episode of Nigel Sylvester’s new show, “Get Sylvester”, Nigel takes in all of Barcelona from the famed Parc Guell and wonders: how does a kid with a BMX bike make it from Queens to here? And not just Barcelona, but all over the world? Nigel may not find all answers on this trip, but he does find a bunch of new spots to ride, as well as the city’s legendary party scene. John can live out of it for 14 days. Mere mortals can make it 7 days. The Fortnight has a clamshell opening for easy access. Adaptable compression flap for unexpected cargo. Weatherproof. Made in Chico, California. Guaranteed for life.
Earlier today I stumbled upon some images of the new Affinity Cycles and Mishka collaboration bike. Before I go any further I’d like to say I rock Mishka gear on the regular, especially in the summertime. I also love the guys over at Affinity and really dig their frames, really good quality at a reasonable price. With that being said, when I heard they were going to collaborate on a bike I got pretty stoked. It was like getting an evite to the pizza and cupcake party hosted by big titty hookers. Unfortunately upon arrival to the party
Episode #2: THE SHANK Yes it’s a fanny pack. And John wears it. Weatherproof. Dual compartment. Key loop. Made in Chico California. Guaranteed for life.
Introducing the Cardiel x Chrome SHANK. Yes, it’s a fanny pack. And John wears it. Weatherproof. Dual compartment. Key loop. Made in Chico, CA. Guaranteed for life.
On a summer day, Chrome Familia member John Cardiel and a couple of friends rode from his home in Sacramento 100 miles north to the Chrome Bag factory in Chico, CA. The intent was to see his new Fortnight travel bag being made. It just so happened that the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is two blocks away from the Chrome bags factory. Here is what ensued.
