Wile surfing the world wide interwebs i stumbled upon this Alaska Wakeboarding Teaser from Catchin’ Air Tv Show. Growing up I lived in St Louise and we lived on 2 lakes so all of my friends wakeboarded but wakeboarding was a summer thing. Now this is something i was not expecting wakeboarding threw a glacier field is definitely RAD.
“Until recently, surfing was completely banned in Chicago. The law was reportedly enacted after a deadly tragedy that involved three girls and an inflatable raft. As a result, the city banned all floatable devices, including surfboards.”www.surfermag.com

White Wash, the documentary, is a film exploring the complexity of race in America through the eyes of the ocean. Examining the history of “black consciousness” as it triumphs and evolves into the minds of black surfers, we learn the power of transcending race as a constructive phenomenon. The story is narrated by the legendary, Grammy Award winner Ben Harper (Fistful of Mercy, Relentless 7, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals) along with Tariq “Blackthought” Trotter of the Grammy Award winning hip hop group, The Roots whom also originally scored the film.

The future of a nation lies in the strength of its youth.
Directed by Tristan Patterson and executive produced by indie-maverick Christine Vachon, Dragonslayer is the Grand Jury Prize Winner for Best Documentary at SXSW 2011 and the second feature film to be released theatrically by Drag City Records following Harmony Korine’s Trash Humpers.
An intimate vérité portrait of the life and times of Josh “Skreech” Sandoval, a 23-year-old skate legend from the stagnant suburbs of Fullerton California, Dragonslayer takes the viewer through a golden SoCal haze of lost youth, broken homes and abandoned swimming pools, set to a soundtrack of bands from indie-rock labels Mexican Summer and Kemado Records—including Best Coast, Bipolar Bear, Children, Dungen, Jacuzzi Boys, Little Girls and The Soft Pack—as well as Death and Thee Oh Sees.
Lately there has been a huge focus on the west coast flavor, especially here at OOPM. It is not intentional, but that’s what has been floating our boats lately. Anyway, we wanted to shift gears and bring you an east coast brand from, in my opinion, an unlikely city, Virginia Beach. Commodore is definitely rooted in the east coast, but has a west coast flair to it being inspired by skate and surf culture, as well as a party lifestyle. If you weren’t sure, check out the “Party Party Party” tank, that should clear things up for you. All in all they have a solid collection of graphic tees and tanks. We’ll be interested to see what else comes out of this camp, and keep you posted as more product does drop. Check out some lookbook shots below, and if you want to see more you can get it here.
Changing the safety of big wave surfing. “This spring Hawaiian big-wave surfer Shane Dorian set a world record by paddling into a 57-foot wave off Maui. For the record, he wore a new inflatable wetsuit built by Billabong. Surfers are calling the suit’s development a game-changer because it provides an element of safety. Though Billabong has no immediate plans to offer the patent-pending technology to the broader market, the suit will be available to some big-wave surfers. Dubbed the Billabong V1 — referencing its ability to bring a surfer vertically 1 foot above the surface — the suit has a back-mounted air bladder and a carbon-dioxide cartridge that inflates with a ripcord. The suit’s inspiration came to Dorian after a scary incident last year. “I took off on the wrong wave and had a horrible wipeout,” he said. “I almost drowned.” After the close call, Dorian outlined his idea to sponsor Billabong, which set out to construct a prototype. After successful calm-water tests, Dorian brought the suit to the Cortés Bank — an open-ocean surf break 100 miles off the coast of Southern California. “I paddled into a really big wave and had a bad wipeout, got pushed under, and I thought, ‘This is the perfect time to test this thing,’” Dorian said. “I pulled my cord, and I went from nearly panicking to being totally relaxed. I didn’t swim, I just let the thing bring me up.”

Check out what I found will cruising the interwebs… I mean I haven’t posted anything in about a month so, but now that the print version is out of my hands lets get back to the daily stuff… So I found these Vans Rubber Waffle Sole Coaster, a must have for any Vans addict. Supposedly there available at the OTH online store (Vans X Off The Hook Shop Launch I tried to find them but no luck. When we find out more info on where you can get the coaster set in the classic Vans waffle sole we will let you know.
Here’s an excellent novelty product from Vans, the California skate label has produced a run of rubber coasters embossed with the trademark grip seen on most Vans footwear. The coasters come in circular or square shapes, similar to the most commonly available waffles (yes, we mean the breakfast food.) They worked well to protect a weathered ledge from our Tecate on a rainy Cinco de Mayo. You may find some at the Vans by OTH Shop.
