SXSW Festival Fashion 2012
Posted by Crystal Shephard on March 19th, 2012

My good friend Britt Boyce decided to do a mini series of fashion photos of people wandering around the streets during SXSW which was perfect since Style X was also going on in the convention center. I’ve included a few below of some of my favorites. (To view more visit her page on facebook.

Hello & This Is England
Posted by Crystal Shephard on December 29th, 2011

Hello readers of OOPM! I’m a new contributor here, thanks to Ronnie. So I’ll tell you a little bit about myself: I’m Crystal, a Philadelphia native who graduated from UARTS with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2009. I have my own blog (Art Jar Studios) in which I post various art related things, including my most recent trip to Miami for Art Basel. I love traveling, Doctor Who, screen-printing and tons of various other things.

I’ve only just found out about This Is England (I’m late, I know!) My friend recommended it to me the other night and I’ve since then watched This Is England, This is England 86 and This Is England 88. If you’re late to this movie and series as I was, then do yourself a favor and watch it! It’s a bit heartbreaking but incredibly good nonetheless.

I love their styles and haircuts, especially Kelly and Lol.

Benny Gold Holiday 2011 Lookbook
Posted by Jesse.N on December 12th, 2011

Benny Gold comes through strong on another collection for holiday 2011, with new graphic tees, snap backs, zip ups, pull overs, and the Japanese exclusive Deck Coat. Benny has been continuously expanding his collection including branching out into cut and sew for the last couple years, and each collection is more cohesive and impressive than the last. My only criticism is that I would love to see a large graphic on the back of the coaches jacket. I’m all about subtlety, but maybe it’s the images of Independent Truck, and SOIA coaches jackets that I can’t get out of my head that leave me wanting this. Other than that, I can say with confidence, Benny Gold will be taking more of my money this season. Additionally, I’m digging the woods theme for the photo shoot.

Benny Gold For Jansport
Posted by Jesse.N on November 20th, 2011

One of the most iconic images when reflecting back to high school and even earlier is the Jansport backpack. Almost everyone had it, each trying to make it their own with patches, markers, Whiteout, etc…well now you can have it again, but Benny Gold has done all of the work for you and I guarantee this bag looks better than your high school backpack. Embroidered with the Collegiate letters this signature bag is available exclusively at the shop in SF and online store. Act fast though, as there were only 50 pieces made and they are already moving quickly.

New Vans Availalbe at DQM and The General
Posted by Jesse.N on November 12th, 2011

Since The General opened they have been coming through with some strong releases from both Vans and DQM. With the colder weather already arriving in NYC it is fitting that they are coming through with warm accessories, like gloves, and heavier materials, like wool on shoes. I hate the cold, but love transitioning into winter gear. Check it out, all available at DQM 3rd St., or The General.

CHECK YO PONTAIL! (fo real check it)
Posted by Jessop.K on October 29th, 2011

Asses shaking, bitches fighting, people jumping, what more could you ask for from an evening? How about The Death Set! Franki Chan! Big FREEDIA! and Spank Rock!!! GOD DAMN!  If you didn’t get out to CHECK YO PONYTAIL you have a few for chances to see this royal rump shaking good time.  Next stop is Brooklyn in case you wanted to know.

I have to hand it to The Death Set with drumming help from Franki Chan they get me amped every time!  There old skool punk flair mixed with proper house rocking Beastie Boys verbal styling all ways, all ways, all ways, is  a pleaser.  And from one person to another if you haven’t heard of Big Freedia  (which i had not till now) you better get your shit together and your ass ready to more (very literally) cause this dude puts on a show!  I’m tempted not to put photos of this ass-plosive, ass-travaganza, but for those in need of some booty I’m putting these up for you.  And finally you have the one the only SPANK ROCK, who consistently drops song after song of good foot getting jams, shit was crazy!  Again if you haven’t seen this event, you have three more chances! Beg, barrow or steal, do what ever it takes but get a move on it and get out to one of the three remaining shows you’ll be doing your self a favor!
