DEGENERATE ART: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes Recap
Posted by Creep Records on June 8th, 2012

On Tuesday May 29th CREEP Records and FROLIC presented the Philadelphia premier of Degenerate Art, a documentary film by the famed glass artist Marble Slinger. The event was advertised with a full page spread in the Philadelphia City Paper and was also posted on many different sources of social media in an effort to draw a diverse and relevant audience. In attendance were various relevant glass artists from both the local and National community, as well as many loyal fans and followers.

The movie itself documents the history of glass pipe making as an Art form. From it’s humble beginnings in Eugene, OR featuring such characters as Bob Snodgrass and Jason Harris. Through the dark days of a Government “crack-down” called Operation Pipe Dreams. To the present day talents of many dedicated and popular artists including local favorites JAG, Zach P., Salt and many others.

At the conclusion of the film there was a live glass blowing demonstration and a brief Q&A with Slinger himself. OOPM was on hand to provide a photo documentation of the entire evening. There was an overwhelming positive response from all who attended. Be on the look-out for future events hosted by CREEP, FROLIC and OOPMag revolving around the Art and culture in the Greater Philadelphia area!~Mark Tawney
