Shepard talks about the influence graffiti, skateboarding and punk rock had on his life and the ways it shaped his art career. Key moments such as a school trip to NY and the melding of styles by brands such as Shut Skateboards allowed him to develop his techniques. Look out for some classic 90′s skate footage as well.

This holiday season, Obey gives us a laid back, collected, and contemporary collection. You’ll find the basic plaid shirt, different styled leather jackets, Navajo print and this year’s biggest trend- lean denim. I would personally wear everything in this collection, including the burned out sweat pants, which look chic and comfortable at the same time. The only criticism I have of the collection is that it included too many trends. The denim leggings and leather jackets have been prevalent in many collections this year, let’s try something new Obey! That said, it’s still a great looking and great feeling collection. Obey brings us a fairly complete and comprehensive collection this holiday season with pieces that, as usual, pay homage to Shepard Fairey’s punk rock/street art roots. You’ll find stencil inspired graphics, and pyramid studded coats among the plaids, Navajo print, and denim that round out the collection. The only negative thing I can say about the collection is, in my book, a huge negative, the sweat pants! I don’t care who you are or what your sweat pants look like, this is a lesson to live by kiddies, sweat pants are never, I repeat, NEVER, ok to wear in public. I don’t care who made them how stylish they are or if they have “lets get physical” air brushed across the ass from the sweetest air brush artist at the mall…unacceptable!
